Young Goodman Brown - Questions

1. I think Hawthorne's Purpose for writing this story was to show how everything in life has two sides. Theres the good and the evil in life.

 2. No, I don't agree that Young Goodman Brown's wife is aptly named Faith. Faith's name doesn't fit her personality because she is supposed to represent some thing that it is pure, but that changes when goodman brown finds her at a party thats evil. No brown doesn't have true faith in her.

3.  I think the pink ribbons signify how innocent faith really is. The color pink is usually adored by young girls who are innocent because they haven't experienced any time of evil temptation.

4. I feel like everything Brown wittness was real. Since Faith was present at one of the events I feel like that proves that this wasn't a figment of browns imagination.

5. I think the old man is really the devil.

6. The staff reprsent evil. I think Brown is the primary movtiar. His on conscience leads him forward.

7. If brown had not ventured into the forest brown would still have been at home with Faith without thinking twice about her or the townspeople. If brown would have stayed home he would have Faith. He would also still trust his wife and his fellowe townpeople.
