The English language has gone bad. Now it's ugly and inaccurate because of today's society.

ON SELF-RELIANCE PART 5
" To be great is to be misunderstood"- Everyone who has a great idea was misunderstood because what they were thinking was to advance for there time so everyone couldn't understand that person's greatness.
" We pass for what we are" - Its hard for people to go against there nature.
" Your genuine action will explain itself and will explain your other genuine actions"- How you act now will impact how you act in the future. Habits stick with you.
" Your conformity explains nothing"- If you act just like the other people in your surroundings, you blend in, so there's nothing to show and explain who you really are.
Three ideas I've taken away from " On Self-Reliance" are people who are great are misunderstood, we cannot pass for anyone but ourselves, and people's true actions now will make their actions valuable later in the furtue.

When we learn a new idea, we physically change our minds.
Emerson says "is not being loyal to a bad idea, being open to a new one".
Emerson's point is that none of these people were understood for their ideas when they first had them.
Have your ideas and if you change them the next day " so what".
A score can't describe you as a thinker, but the people who really know you can.
We do things that speak about our character without thinking about them.
We understand that people tend to be themselves.
We respect most those who don't need anything for us. They earned our respect with their character because we know who that person already is.
You can create an impression as you go through your day.

Honor your nature.
Don't change.
The malice tries to make themselves look good when they started the opioid crisis.
That why Emerson writes " don't act good when your not"
Don't praise people when they haven't done anything good.
Emerson explains that one's character shouldn't change once in a while and the rest of the time be a jerk. Don't be out of your nature whether it's good or bad just to make yourself look good.
Virtues are honorable good qualities of a person.
As you get older its easier to think that bad is more common than the good.
Who the person is separated from what the person does.
Its easier to leave and be alone when trying to think, then to be in a crowd.
You have a high price to pay for nonconformity.
"The game is bigger than the player".

First Impression of "On Self-Reliance"
Latin is the root of everything romance. It's especially the roots of the Spanish language.
Latin takes us back to our roots.
That's why Emerson writes his first verse in Latin to make a connection back to our roots.
Admiliton - Is a warning( when told not to do something)
Emerson is a genius for writing "To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men".
Its the belief in you that's worth celebrating. What people admire.
It's the belief that's genius, not the actual thought.
Emerson knows that when we have a good idea were sometimes too scared to say it because we're afraid no one will listen, but soon after another person says it out allowed and they get all the credit for your good idea. You then feel dumb because it turned out to be a great idea and you had no credit for it.
Whatever happens, is the function of your work. Nothing happens unless you make it happen.
